| Background |
The history of Santo Rico dates back to 1995. The name of the dance company derived from the initial members of the group being half from Santo Domingo (Santo) and half from Puerto Rico (Rico), hence the name "Santo Rico."
Santo Rico Dance Company, currently under the direction of Tomas Guerrero, has become one of New York's premier dance companies with their dazzling choreographies and unique style of dancing, which they have showcased at major events such as the legendary off-Broadway Comedy Dancical "Latin Madness," Madison Square Garden, and at several Salsa Congresses globally. Santo Rico has traveled to 5 continents and over 22 countries, which includes places like Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, England, Norway, Switzerland, Italy/Rome, Russia, Sweden, Amsterdam, Belgium, Spain, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, to name a few. Some of their achievements also include performing alongside renowned artists such as Tito Puente, Marc Anthony, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Oscar De Leon, Victor Manuelle, Hector Tricoche, Jose Alberto "El Canario", La Sonora Ponceņa, Willie Colon, Raulin Rosendo and Johnny Pacheco, as well as performing and teaching their style of dancing at universities/colleges and special events throughout the United States.
